Here are some routes that we often take as a group or that some of our members have enjoyed.

Lunada Bay Loop | This is a beginner route that is also part of the warm up for most of our club rides. It is as flat as possible in Palos Verdes. It starts at Golden Cove Plaza and goes through Lunada Bay where it turns around and returns to Golden Cove Plaza. | 7.40 miles | 419 feet | |||||
Beach Loop | This beginner route starts at the Torrance Beach Parking lot near Paseo De La Playa and Via Riviera. Via Campesina Loop | This route is an beginner or easy intermediate ride with some hills. It starts at Golden Cove Plaza with an easy warm-up through Lunada Bay then does some climbing to the PV Golf Course before it turns around and returns by taking PV Dr West. | 14.20 miles | 1151 feet | |||||
Via Campesina Hillier | This route is an advanced beginner/intermediate ride with some hills. Trump Loop | This is a beginner loop that is a bit longer with some rolling hills. Note to be cautious when riding through the Portuguese Bend area. It is an active slide zone where the road undulates and can change from one week to the next. (or not) | 15.40 miles | 1105 feet | |||||
Whitley Collins | This is an intermediate/advanced ride which has a couple of steep climbs. It starts at Golden Cove Plaza climbs Hawthorne to Crest to Highridge and Whitley Collins before returning down Via Coronel by way of Via Zurita. | 19.90 miles | 2119 feet | |||||
PV and Hollywood Riviera (Fat Burner) | This route is an intermediate ride that is a good "fat burner". It starts at Golden Cove Plaza with an easy warm-up through Lunada Bay then rides through the north area of PV Estates and then the southern hilly area of Torrance known as the Hollywood Riviera. Silver Spur Leg Burner | This route is a "Good Leg Builder" advanced ride. It starts at Golden Cove Plaza with an easy warm-up to Barkentine Rd and returns to Via Coronel where it climbs Via Romero to Via Coronel then on to Via Fernandez with a steep 1/2 mile 9+% hill climb of Silver Spur Rd. to the Peninsula Center where it loops through an adjacent neigborhood before returning down Via Coronel to PV Dr. West and Golden Cove. | 21.30 miles | 1962 feet | In Process | ||||
Climb, Climb, Climb | This advanced route starts and Golden Cove and does a lot of climbing through the hills of Palos Verdes Estates before ascending to Highridge Rd and returning to Golden Cove by going down Via Coronel and Via Zurita to PV Dr. West. | 21.40 miles | 2116 feet | In Process | ||||
PV Hill Clockwise Loop | This advanced intermediate route starts at Golden Cove Shopping Center and circles the hill in a clockwise direction. The route lines in red are areas to be very careful riding through. One is the Portuguese Bend landslide area and the other is riding down PV Dr. East. There are areas that have sunshine peaking though the trees which makes it hard to see bumps in the road. | 21.60 miles | 1768 feet | |||||
Arco | This route is an advanced beginner/intermediate ride with some hills. It starts at Golden Cove Plaza with an easy warm-up through Lunada Bay then does some climbing to the PV Golf Course before it takes PV Dr. North to the Arco station at Rolling Vista Dr. It returns by taking Rolling HIlls Rd to Newton, Calle Mayor and PV Dr West. | 23.10 miles | 1739 feet | |||||
Hawthorne 'Round About to Via Coronel | This is an intermediate/advanced ride where after the warm-up you will climb Hawthorne Blvd for about 2 miles then wend your way around the hill before returning to Golden Cove. The route goes past the peninsula center, then on Crenshaw for about 50 yards before climbing again to Highridge, at which point the descents begin, with only a couple small ascents along the way. | 23.80 miles | 1801 feet | |||||
Switchbacks | This is an intermediate/advanced ride that starts at Golden Cove Plaza, warms up through Lunada Bay then returns along PV Drive West and South to the switchbacks on PV Drive East where it ascends to Crest Rd. and returns down Via Colinita through Miraleste to Western and back to PV Dr. South, past Wayfarer's Chapel and back to Golden Cove Plaza. | 24.00 miles | 1904 feet | In Process | ||||
Beach Loop with Hills | This beginner intermediate route starts and ends at Golden Cove Plaza. It warms up through Lunada Bay then takes PV Dr. West to the Torrance Beach Parking lot near Paseo De La Playa and Via Riviera. It then parallels the coast, avoiding the strand with the strollers, roller-bladers, etc, as much as possible on the way to Manhattan Beach Pier where it turns around and returns to the Torrance Beach parking lot and then climbs PV Dr. West back to Golden Cove Plaza. | 24.10 miles | 1149 feet | In Process | ||||
Sleepy Hollow - ARCO | An intermediate ride that starts out with a nice warmup through the Sleepy Hollow area of Torrance, then up through some hills of the Riviera and into PV Estates. Ride PV Dr. North with a couple of little side trips in Rolling Hills Estates on the way to the turn-around point of the ARCO gas station on PV Dr. North. A stop at the Yellow Vase for some lattes and/or brunch then return to the Torrance Beach Parking lot. | 24.20 miles | 1740 feet | |||||
CCW - Up Cowboy Cut-Thru | Intermediate route. Counter Clockwise starting at Malaga Cove plaza around the Palos Verdes Peninsula, climbing the switchbacks, descending Via Colonita, wending your way through neighborhood to minimize time on Western, to the "Cowboy Cutthru" (named because the streets have a western theme) to PV Dr. East then return to Malaga Cove Plaza via PV Dr. North and Via Campesina. | 24.50 miles | 1972 feet | |||||

Pt. Fermin | This route is an beginner intermediate ride with rolling hills and a couple of short steep climbs. It starts at Golden Cove Plaza with an easy warm-up through Lunada Bay then turns back and rides past Terranea, through the Portuguese Bend slide area to the Pt. PV CCW Loop and Domes, Malaga Cove | This is an intermediate advanced to advanced ride that starts at the fountain in Malaga Cove and goes around the Palos Verdes Peninsula in a counter-clockwise direction. It also includes an additional spur up to the radar domes at the top of Crest Rd. | 25.90 miles | 2341 feet | |||||
CW - Down Cowboy Cut Thru | Intermediate clockwise loop around the peninsula starting at Malaga Cove Plaza, riding down the "Cowboy Cut-Thru" (nick-named because the streets have a western theme,) up Via Colonita to the domes, then down the switchbacks and return to Malaga Cove Plaza. PV Hill Counter-Clockwise Loop | This advanced intermediate route starts at Golden Cove Shopping Center and circles the hill in a counter-clockwise direction. It has an optional warm-up loop in green, that adds about 6 miles to ride. The route lines in red are areas to be very careful riding through. One is the Portugese Bend landslide area and the other is riding down PV Dr. East. USS Iowa - CCW PV Loop | This is an intermediate ride which starts and finishes at the end of Hawthorne in Rancho Palos Verdes. It does a complete counter-clockwise loop around the peninsula and passes by Terrenea, Trump National Golf Course, the Pt. Fermin lighthouse and the USS Iowa moored in San Pedro before returning via Western, PV Dr. North and PV Dr. West. | 28.50 miles | 1602 feet | |||||
Domes | This advanced route has a lot of hill climbing and miles. it starts at Golden Cove Plaza and first goes north to Via Campesina and the PV Golf Course. It then turns around and goes along PV Dr. West and South before it climbs the switchbacks of PF Dr. East and finally to the Domes at the top of Crest Rd. It returns by going down the beautiful Colinita Dr through Miraleste to Western and back to Golden Cove. | 35.70 miles | 3175 feet | In Process | ||||
Ballona Creek | This is an beginner intermediate which from Palos Verdes to the bridge at Ballona Creek on the border between Playa Del Rey and Marina Del Rey. It is flat if you start at Torrance Beach, or a little hilly if you start at Golden Cove. | 36.80 miles | 1238 feet | |||||
PVBC Unicorn Clockwise - Irvine, CA | A "Strava Art" route that forms the shape of a Unicorn when complete. This is an intermediate level route with only a couple of climbs, the primary one after about a 6.5 mile flat warmup. Start at Bill Barber Memorial Park in Irvine. Exit the parking lot, turning left onto Harvard and proceed to the San Diego Creek Trail by turning right just before Barranca Pkwy. You will ride to the Turtle Rock area for the head of the Unicorn, to Newport Beach for the legs and belly, then proceed around the Newport Beach Back Bay to form the tail before finally returning to complete the back and the horn. | 37.10 miles | 1368 feet | |||||
Intelligencia Coffee | This route is an advanced beginner or easy intermediate ride with some hills. It starts at Golden Cove Plaza with an easy warm-up through Lunada Bay then heads down to the coast where it parallels the ocean avoiding the strand as much as possible (and strollers, roller-bladers, etc) and ends at the amazing Intelligencia Coffee house before returning to Golden Cove Plaza. Newport Back Bay from Long Beach | Start at the Los Alamitos Marina parking lot on E. Marina Dr. South of E. 2nd Steet. (Free parking all day). This routes is an advanced beginner/intermediate ride. It is long but flat. It goes along the coast then circles the nature preserve at the Newport Beach Back Bay before returning to Long Beach. | 45.70 miles | 686 feet | In Process | ||||
Mandeville Canyon | This routes starts at the Torrance Beach Parking lot near Paseo De La Playa and Via Riviera.
